In 1972, Aztec Two-Step burst on the scene with their self-titled debut album on Elektra Records, and Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman went on to spend a lifetime making music together. Now, after 47 years of touring, the duo’s Neal Shulman has taken an indefinite hiatus following the passing of his beloved wife. Moving forward into a new era of Aztec Two-Step, Rex is excited to be joined by two veteran artists: on guitar, keyboards and vocals - Dodie Pettit (Broadway’s CATS, and original cast member of The Phantom of the Opera; session player on ATS’s 1980 album “Time of Our Lives”); and on upright bass, blues harp and vocals - Steven “Muddy” Roues (The Roues Brothers; Jon Pousette-Dart; and Carl Perkins in the critically acclaimed documentary “The Other Side of Nashville”).
Rex & Friends have been touring with the Aztec Two-Step catalog, earning rousing reviews: “You made my day! The show with Rex and Friends was fantastic. Look forward to seeing you again!” “Amazing show! Classic Aztec with a twist. Go see Rex, Dodie and Muddy. You won’t be disappointed!”
