The Deslondes first met at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, trading tunes and making music around the campfire. Later on, frontman Sam Doores moved to New Orleans and found the rest of the band including Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Alynda Lee Segara. In October 2012, the band released their first album, “Holy Cross Blues”, on Dollartone Records under the name The Tumbleweeds. After discovering that band name was already taken, they decided on the Deslondes, named after the street where the band first wrote and recorded together. In 2013 they gained national attention, touring with Alabama Shakes and opening for the Lumineers. They have toured the world and drawn critical acclaim for their inventive take on New Orleans country and R&B. Their second album "Hurry Home" represents a sonic shift from the country-folk of their debut to a psychedelic, electrified soul sound, with a stronger emphasis on organ and electric guitar.
